Graphic Digital Filter
SpeechStation2
provides a powerful digital
filter that is programmed graphically. The frequency-domain filter, which uses FFTs in an
overlap-add method, can be used to rapidly modify a file or selected segment, or to remove
or emphasize a selected frequency-time rectangular region from a spectrogram. Its use is
extremely simple: the inflection points of the filter response are chosen with the mouse
and clicked to make as simple or complicated filter as is needed. After the user has
plotted the filter, another click applies the filter to the user's choice of a selected
segment, a region shown in the spectrogram, or an entire file. The filtering action is
rapid; a file consisting of half an hour of speech can be filtered in a little more than
two minutes.
