SenSyn Laboratory Speech Synthesizer for UNIX - FREE

SenSyn is a free, complete, Klatt-type formant synthesizer incorporating the most recent refinements.

  • Includes complete source code, installation instructions and Dennis Klatt’s 80-page description of the KLSYN88 synthesizer
  • Fully compatible with other KLSYN synthesizers but more complete
  • Available for UNIX Operating Systems
  • All users are required to sign a Single User License Agreement limiting SenSyn’s use to noncommercial and/or research applications.  SenSyn may not be rebundled or resold as part of a commercial package or product.

The SenSyn Laboratory Speech Synthesizer makes available to researchers and commercial research institutions our own code for the best and most widely used speech synthesizer, KLSYN88. SenSyn can be used in research and non-commercial product development. The SenSyn package includes the complete source code, detailed instructions for installation and use, and an 80-page unpublished book chapter by Dennis Klatt describing the function and use of KLSYN88.

SenSyn is written in ANSI Standard C, and includes only source code (no executables). The code should compile and run on any system running UNIX. This version has a very simple user interface: numeric (keyboard) input with no graphics or mouse routines. The synthesized waveforms are output as binary files (16-bit resolution). The program itself includes no capabilities for D/A conversion or audio output.

To request a copy of SenSyn, print and sign the Single User License Agreement and print and fill out an order form.  You may fax these two documents to 617-625-6612, or scan and email them to sensimetrics@sens.com.  Once received and processed, you will be emailed the SenSyn utility at no charge.
